The Department of Political Science at Sumitranandan Pant Government Degree College, Garur is an integral part of the Faculty of Arts. Since the establishment of the college in 2006, the department has been dedicated to imparting quality education in Political Science and fostering a deeper understanding of democratic values, governance, public administration, and international relations. The department offers Political Science as a subject in the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programme under Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora.
The department aims to develop informed, responsible, and socially conscious citizens by providing students with a comprehensive understanding of political theories, constitutional principles, public policies, human rights, and contemporary political developments. Through classroom teaching, seminars, group discussions, debates, and academic activities, students are encouraged to think critically and participate actively in democratic processes.
