The Department of Geography at Sumitranandan Pant Government Degree College, Garur is one of the prominent departments in the Faculty of Arts. Geography has been taught in the college since its establishment in 2006, with the objective of helping students understand the relationship between people, places, and the environment. The college currently offers Geography as part of its undergraduate Arts programme under Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora.
The department is committed to providing quality education through an integrated approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical learning. Students gain an understanding of both Physical Geography and Human Geography, along with contemporary topics such as environmental studies, regional development, disaster management, cartography, and sustainable resource management.
